Innovative sources for Loss and Damage funding: Introducing the Climate Solidarity Alliance

COP29 Side Event: 15th of November, 16.45-18.15 (AZT), Side Event Room 7 and online (for delegates)

Background

As the impacts of climate change intensify globally, finding innovative ways to finance responses to loss and damage has become more urgent than ever. Addressing this critical issue, DanChurch Aid, Oxford Climate Policy and International Peace Institute will be co-hosting the COP29 side-event “Innovative Sources for Loss and Damage Funding: Introducing the Climate Solidarity Alliance” on 15th November 16:45-18:15 (AZT).

This side-event will introduce the Climate Solidarity Alliance—a coalition committed to fostering global cooperation and innovative funding mechanisms that can support the countries most affected by climate-induced challenges.

Through a dynamic panel discussion and Q&A, we will explore the role of Climate Solidarity Levies as a potential solution for raising domestic funds and enhancing international support. The event aims to inspire countries to implement these levies and show solidarity with the most vulnerable communities by allocating resources to address the escalating costs of climate loss and damage.
